— A photographic series produced within the Madonie. Paesaggi 1973/2021 project, recipient of the Strategia Fotografia grant promoted by the Italian Ministry of Culture. Moving through the apparent stillness of the Sicilian inland landscape, the work traces subtle dissonances and suspended conditions, focusing in particular on the former hospital of Petralia Sottana as a site of unresolved presence.
The lighting choice of the Neapolitan photographer is the common thread that connects all the shots, enveloped in an aura that fuels suggestions, hovering over the places and imbuing them with a sense of sacredness or mystery. Scotti seems to want to sanctify the public good, the very one that, taken away from the citizens, retains a living memory in abandonment, a memory that should be recovered, preserved, and deserves a functional reuse for the community.
