(The Visual Identity of a Landscape)
Solomeo, Perugia, 2023. Cucinelli is Solomeo, and Solomeo is Cucinelli. This profound connection shapes what I define as the visual identity of a landscape.
Seen from above, from a privileged vantage point, the form of a compass unexpectedly emerges within the landscape redesigned by Cucinelli and interwoven with vineyards. It is the Parco della Bellezza, where the essence of a man returns to his origins through the land and the vine.
This is the image of a life, and of a vision.
Presented at ADI Design Museum in October 2023, Fotografia alla Carriera. A Tribute of Italian Photography to the Masters of the Compasso d’Oro explored the relationship between photography and Italian design through a series of visual tributes to the recipients of the Compasso d’Oro Career Award.
Curated by Giovanni Chiaramonte and Michele Nastasi, the exhibition invited Italian contemporary photographers to engage freely with figures who have shaped the cultural identity of Italian design, offering at the same time a broader reflection on the landscape of contemporary Italian photography.
